There’s just something about styling your 1-year old for fall family pictures that is a challenge.
Firstly, there are always so many options to sift through for girls. The clock strikes midnight and you are no closer to having selected an outfit than you were two hours ago when you started browsing. In fact, you are farther away than you were when you started now that you have tired eyes and a frazzled brain. It’s okay! I have been there, too.
Secondly, you want your princess to shine in your pictures (as you should)! But how? How can you keep her from dressing too matchy-matchy? How can you let her shine but keep the family pictures looking balanced?
Thirdly, how can you prepare for the inevitable 1-year old unpredictability? This one I cannot help with. But, as discussed in my post here, I encourage you to take a deep breath and allow your 1-year old to “be one”. Will she fall in the mud? Maybe. Will she decide to only crawl instead of walk? Maybe. Will she throw every attempted hair accessory? Likely 😅. But, alas, by stepping back and allowing her to be “her”, your photographer will most likely be able to capture that emerging personality (all sides of it!). As a mom of five littles, I have to remind myself frequently to “choose joy amongst the chaos” – family pictures are not an exception.
With that being said, let’s take a look at some stunning outfit sets for fall family pictures 😍
Outfits
It’s the Cadillac of fall style – a brown gingham print. This baby girl romper is probably my favorite of the season and will go beautifully with almost any other family palette that you are working with. I paired it with a waffle-textured baby turban, moccasins and cable knit burgundy tights to prepare for cooler temps.
If you live in an area with a warmer fall climate, this outfit is for you! I’m OBSESSED with this lace baby romper! Add a fall floral crown with some simple socks and shoes – O my goodness, I’m in love. Barefoot would definitely be acceptable here if desired for this whimsical style. (Note: the socks in this style could easily be omitted, too, if you wanted the moccasins only!)
Here is a neutral set with romper and cardigan both from Amazon. I paired it with ivory cable knit tights and gray shoes and bow. If you wanted to add a color pop to this set, I would recommend a jewel blue tone!
This set gives me very “little sister vibes”. The ruffle details with the dainty floral pattern and pattern piggy bows are so sweet and playful. If desired, you could add this corduroy one-piece but you would not have to! Either way, she will be adorable.
Fall fashion is known for layering and textures, and this outfit encompasses all of those things. From the knit sweater to the corduroy suspender skirt, the layers and textures are what make this outfit really stand out.
Enjoy these fall-inspired looks for your 1-year old girl and don’t forget to follow me @littlestylesbigseasons and tag me! I would love to see these outfits styled IRL 🤩
